Culmer Raphael and E3G launch new campaign for 'fastest possible adoption of low carbon heat across the UK'

Culmer Raphael is delighted to be joining up with the UK’s leading environmental think tank, E3G, to launch a new campaign – Electrify Heat -which will be pushing for the fastest possible adoption of low carbon, heat pump and other electrified heating technologies, across the UK. As heating represents around 15% of the UK’s total greenhouse gas emissions, the campaign is critical to Net Zero. The UK Government published its Heat and Buildings Strategy in October 2021 and the task now is to make good on the visions of clean, affordable and low carbon heating for all UK homes, before 2030. The Government’s vision is for 600,000 heat pumps to be installed in UK homes by 2030 – with a Boiler Upgrade Scheme to be launched in spring 2022 – but the Committee on Climate Change says we need more like 900,000 installations per year by then. At the moment there are under 2000 qualified installers and only around 30,000 installations per year. So there is work to do.

Luckily, 17 of the most innovative energy companies (including Octopus Energy, E.ON, Scottish Power, Good Energy, OVO Energy and EDF Energy), NGOs, trade bodies and consumer groups have come together under the Electrify Heat campaign to ensure that we make this happen. Culmer Raphael will be leading on the communications and public affairs, while E3G lead on policy innovations.
